Mercedes brought to test the new generation G-Class

The premiere of the car should take place at the Frankfurt motor show in September this year.

Mercedes-Benz has begun testing the SUV G-Class new generation on roads in Germany.

The car will retain the familiar design but will be built on a new platform.

The prototype in the video looks like the current model with black and white camouflage. However, you can see that the SUV has become wider.

According to insiders, only about 8 percent from the old G-Class will be saved, probably by this small percentage are Windows and tail lights. But the interior, engine and transmission are sure to be new. Also the car itself will be much easier.

The car will be equipped with upgraded 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine Biturbo. The capacity of the unit can range from 470 to 600 horsepower. Also in the engine range SUV will include petrol engines with power up to 360 horsepower and a few diesel units.

Most likely, Mercedes-Benz will refuse the new model from some of the options for off-road, for example, from a rigid front axles and three locking differentials. According to journalists, the model will become “much more an SUV than a SUV.”

It is expected that the premiere of the car should take place at the Frankfurt motor show in September this year. Novelty sales in Europe scheduled for early 2018. To produce an SUV will be in Graz in Austria.
