Medvedev banned the excessive increase in utility tariffs

The Prime Minister signed a decree prohibiting unreasonable increase of prices for services of housing and communal services above the level of inflation. According to the Prime Minister, the document will more tightly control the price of utilities.

As he noted, currently, the regions are established limiting indexes of growth of housing and utility payments, but there are a number of reasons for exceedance, reports TASS.

“Not all of these based just. Now there has become less,” – said the head of the Cabinet.

As previously reported, the Russians for most of the utilities will overpay more than 100% of their cost, said the head of FAS Igor Artemyev in the program “Pozdnyakov” on NTV. “Citizens are in the majority in most public positions have long overpaid more than 100% of the cost, and all this talk that we have some sort of miserable, underpaid, this utility monsters— that’s bullshit,” said Mr Artemyev. According to him, in three quarters of the regions high housing prices, and the rest understated. In two adjoining areas water tariffs may differ in 54 times.

Antimonopoly service has called this practice “tariff hooliganism” and is going to settle this issue at the legislative level.

But it all happens at the level of local authorities and bodies of local self-government where the anti-monopoly service “hard to reach”.
