Joint development in cooperation with Toyota and Denso continues.
Japanese company Mazda has announced plans to introduce the first electric car that uses its own technology by 2020.
Despite the fact that joint development, in cooperation with Toyota and Denso continues, the manufacturer intends to introduce a new product, with zero emissions, developed without the help of partners. This is confirmed by the comments of the General Director of Mazda Europe, Jeff Gaytana:
“The electric car that we will launch in 2020, will technology Mazda. Technology, we are working with Toyota and Denso will appear, maybe in a few years.”
The company continues to keep all information secret and when it comes to the appearance of the upcoming car, the head of Mazda said that prefers a more traditional design appropriate to the current lineup.
It is noted that the first electric model of Mazda was in development even before the signing of the agreement with Toyota and Denso. Details about the partnership Mazda-Toyota-Denso is still minimal and not fleshed out, the only thing we know: companies plan to “jointly develop basic structural technologies for electric vehicles”.
