CX-3 will receive the new family of engines Mazda SkyActiv-X. These power units are the first application of compression-ignition in a gasoline engine. Fuel-air mixture is compressed until it ignites as a diesel fuel.
The result is improved fuel economy by 20-30% compared with conventional engines, but torque increases by 10-30 percent. According to available information, the 2.0-liter version develops about 187 horsepower and 230 Newton metres of torque.
The new engines will be installed on Mazda 3 2019 model year, the debut which will take place in November during the Los Angeles auto show.
The first sales will begin only in 2019.
