Security forces detained five people, including major General and Colonel of the APU.
Detectives of the National anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized anticorruption Prosecutor’s office (SAP) today detained a number of members of the APU and Lviv armored plant suspected of fraud in the tens of millions of hryvnia. About it reports a press-service of NABOO.
The essence of the corruption scheme was the fact that instead of new engines for T-72 tanks actually were purchased engines that were previously in use. In addition, these were in use, and sometimes outside, the engines have already been sold in 2008-2009 were sold to companies in the domestic market as surplus Ministry of defence property.
NABU said that the release of this model engines was discontinued in 1990-ies, the initiators of the scheme was well known.
“Currently, arrested five people: head TBTU (Central armored control) Arms APU APU (major General), chief of the Department of CBTU APU Weapons APU (Colonel), Director and Deputy Director of state enterprise Lviv armored plant, as well as founder involved in the scheme,” reports the NEB.
The detainees are suspected of embezzlement of budget funds in the amount of 28.5 million. Criminal proceedings is conducted by part 5 of article 191 UK of Ukraine (assignment, waste of property or taking to them by abuse of official position).
It is noted that the investigation on these facts the detectives NAB began in November 2016.
