Earlier the ban was introduced as an experiment in Minsk and regions
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko ordered to immediately lift the ban on selling alcohol at night. Previously this measure was introduced as an experiment in Minsk and regions. However, when Lukashenko was reported, what happened on the first night of the experiment he stopped.
In Minsk and in several other areas from October 1, 2018 and before October 1, 2019 in order to combat drunkenness, a ban was imposed on sale from 23.00 to 7.00 in the trading network of vodka, liquors, wines, cognac, brandy, Calvados, champagne, and other drinks with a volumetric share of ethyl alcohol of 7% and more, as well as beer and soft drinks.
However within a day the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, according to BelTA, after reviewing the information supplied by him, decided to immediately cancel these ill-conceived decisions.
In Lukashenka’s Administration, such a ban is called the one-sided measure. In practice it turned out that instead of the expected effect on reducing alcohol consumption, he immediately formed the black market.
“Sales under the counter the same taxi drivers, the increase in the use of any alcohol-containing liquids, the problem of counterfeit goods in terms of inability to control the situation in the framework of civilized terms of trade… And, as a result, the increase in the number of offenses and alcohol poisoning”, – quotes Agency the words of the representative of the Administration.
They added that they intend to solve the complex problem of alcoholism, with emphasis on preventive and educational nature, the formation of a fashion on a healthy lifestyle.
In social networks one of the commentators wrote that the inability to buy quality alcohol at night time in shops, you have to go with “Frank the baggage (surrogate alcoholic drink – ed.)”.
