Moscow. 27 Feb. INTERFAX.RU – the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said about the country’s readiness to further integrate with Russia, but says it will “force” from the Russian side.
“We remain, as always, committed to real integration without forcing integration. A new term has appeared in the Union – “the compulsion to integration.” And it is strange that it started with the forcing of integration of Belarus”, – Lukashenka said at a meeting with Chairman of the Eurasian economic Commission (EEC) Mikhail Myasnikovich said Thursday in Minsk. President quotes the state Agency “BelTA”.
As a positive example of integration between Lukashenko recalled the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin. “Even together with the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin, the Belarusian side is always initiated by the real integration of Russia and Belarus economies, lives and so on. Preserving the sovereignty and independence,” – said the Belarusian leader.
“We then (in the times of Yeltsin – if) did not say that someone must lose sovereignty and independence. Despite all the difficulties in those times we have found solutions to complex issues. When rich, especially Russia, began a strange bustle and fuss. And, as I said, the compulsion to integration,” again said the President of Belarus.
Thus, according to him, this compulsion is accompanied by massive propaganda in the Russian media. Lukashenko said that he had presented Russian President Vladimir Putin selection of relevant publications.
In mid-February, the Belarusian leader said that the leadership of Russia hints at the possibility of accession of the Republic to Russia in exchange for a single price for energy.
Currently Russia and Belarus are coordination of the roadmaps for the integration in the framework of the renewed action programme for the creation of the Union state. It is planned that all the integration road map will come into force from 1 January 2021.
