Lukashenko reminded about the 1995 referendum.
Alexander Lukashenko sees no possibility for unification in a common state of Belarus and Russia, which, according to the Agency “BelTA”, he said at a meeting with Russian Ambassador Mikhail Babich on October 10.
“Unshakable one, and you know it, we are a sovereign and independent country,” he said.
Lukashenko has expressed opinion that Russia and its leadership in the 90-ies of the last century wanted Belarus gained sovereignty and independence, and the current leadership of the Russian Federation “declared the continuity of the course.”
“In the twenty-first century speak (as they write it) about the incorporation, the inclusion of Belarus into Russia, is just ridiculous. And I have never from the current President of Russia did not hear it, and the last, the first President of Russia,” – said Lukashenko.
At the same time, the President recalled about the 1995 referendum, the majority of which supported the “Union of Belarus and Russia”.
Not to mention that the President contradicts himself. Less than a week ago, he admitted the possibility of a military conflict between his country and Russia, saying that Russia “cannot 100% to rely on.”
