Looked like the private car of Joseph Stalin. Photo

Everything was attention to detail..

The leaders at all times paid special attention to Executive cars. One of the most mysterious cars can rightly be considered the one which went to Stalin.

Today, some historians call the car of the leader of the “King car.” And I must admit, this name is completely suitable ZIS-115. In fact, it was not the only machine of Joseph Stalin, however, she was destined to become one of the best. The history of the ZIS-115 deserves to become a legend.

It all started in heavy 1943, in the midst of the great Patriotic war, when the Soviet Union finally managed to seize the initiative. Let to the victory was still far away, and at the front the battle thundered, it was already clear that sooner or later the war will end. It then began to develop a fundamentally new model of cars which after the war would come out on roads of the country.

One such project was “110”. Engaged in the development of the Plant. Likhachev, who then called the Plant. Stalin. Based on Soviet future car took the American Packard. Both cars are very similar, especially in terms of design. Chose, by the way, not just because – Packard loved Leader.

However, the 110 model was a purely civilian car. For the needs of Stalin’s car was significantly modified, with the result that it was marked “115”. Externally, the model did not differ, however, filling the main state of the car was much better.

The most important part of a car – armored body. Unlike European and American counterparts, ZIS-115 was defended not by the individual panels and one-piece welded-riveted construction. The armor even had its own index – “Product-100”. There is a legend that on every page of the design was engraved the details of the craftsmen who manufactured it. Glass from the “King of mobile” was also armored, with a thickness of 75 mm. the most Interesting part was the hydraulic lifters.

The movement of the ZIS-115 was cited 8-cylinder engine, which was fully assembled in the USSR. It is curious that other ZIS-115 for members of the elite of the country was the V6 motors at 162 horsepower. Stalin also had an additional radiator, manual 4-speed gearbox, no problems speeding up to 110 kmh and “ate” for 30 liters of fuel per 100 km.

As for the interior, there is a ZIS-115 is asceticism, if we talk about Executive cars. It was spacious enough – in the Stalinist version housed 6-7 people. Everything was covered in natural leather, velour and wool. On the front you can see the panels of Karelian birch. All the materials are expensive and natural.
