Architects two studios — Yukawa Kohei and Hiroto Kawaguchi & Associates — worked on a project of this private residence in one of the suburbs of Kyoto, Japan.
The main wish of the customer was to the house, harmoniously linked with the environment. So find a way to incorporate the space of the home blue of the sky and the view of the cherry blossoms was one of the important tasks of designers.
The building consists of three connected volumes-shaped houses with gable roofs, each of which performs its function. From two opposite sides are “House parents” and the “House of children”, in the center is extremely open “House for all”.
Complex organization of the space of each house involves the creation of different zones using the raising and lowering of the floor level, a wide multi-function steps, recesses and niches.
The architects have ensured that the inhabitants feel “living in the landscape”, as a series of volumes of the building organizes a series of views of the surrounding landscape, views from a variety of size and shape of the Windows.
