Lithuania is afraid of worsening relations with Russia, Belarus

The Director of the Department of state security Jauniskis believes that exploration should be aware of, whether Russian-Belarusian military exercises defensive or offensive in nature.

The main challenge to the national security of Lithuania this year will be planned by Russia and Belarus doctrines “the West-2017”, the Director of the Department of state security (DGB) Lithuania Darius Jauniskis.

“I think the basic is the doctrine of “the West”, which will be held in neighboring Belarus, and in Russia itself, but also on our border,” he told reporters on Thursday in Parliament Jauniskis participating in the meeting of the parliamentary Committee on national security and defence (BIC).

“We have data from public space on those ordered cars, the military provided the figures. This is a concern, the magnitude and the direction, because this “West” is always a big question. This year we shall see where this is going”, – he added.

Jauniskis believes that intelligence needs to follow are the teachings of defensive or offensive in nature. Director of DGB said that these teachings are of concern because they are always directed “toward the West”.

February 3, the headquarters of the Western military district (ZVO) said that Russian-Belarusian strategic exercises “West-2017” will be held at several landfills in the two countries. “The main objective for 2017 is to prepare all troops for large-scale joint strategic exercise “West-2017″, which will be held at several firing ranges in Belarus and Russia”, – is told in the message a press-services ZVO.
