The tender for the purchase of buses is planned to take place before the end of 2019.
“Lviv city Council on Monday (may 13 – ed.) signed a letter of intent with IFC. It allows speaking about potentially one of the largest in the history of borrowings of funds of the international Institute in the development of the city. The signing of the letter – the first stage, then, the city Council and the IFC will consider the possibility of signing a loan agreement,” – said in Lviv city Council.
Recipients will perform utilities Lvovelektrotrans (35 million euros) and Lvivavtodor (15 million euros).
“The previous idea was to purchase 100 buses, but given that we have 130 km of trolleybus contact network for cost optimization it was decided to purchase trolleybuses with an Autonomous course, i.e. without the completion of the trolley lines, we can ensure the entrance of electric vehicles in densely populated areas, where there is no contact network. We will also be able to optimize the movement of trolleybuses and buses, so that they do not duplicate each other”, – said the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovy.
The interest rate on the contract can be of 4.99-5.5%, maturity of 13 years with a grace period of three years.
Loans will be funded partly with its own funds IFC, particularly through the clean technology Fund (CTF).
The exact distribution between the IFC loans will be determined in the assessment and will depend on the compliance of the projects with the funding criteria and CTF. In addition, IFC will provide Advisory services in the framework of these projects.
According to the Deputy Director of profile Department of the city Council Andrew White, a tender for the purchase of buses is planned to take place before the end of this year, after all approvals and begin deliveries in 2020 for three years, in order to finish the database maintenance of new equipment and conduct driver training.
According to the Lvovelektrotrans, of the 208 units of rolling stock 137 units are trams (including the 98 – old Tatra КТ4), 71 – the trolley (new Elektron – 10 units and one electric bus, old – 61). Also on the balance sheet 82 km of tram ways and a contact network, 130 km of trolleybus contact network and traction substations 19.
