The people’s Deputy of Ukraine Georgy Logvynsky today will substitute Pedro Agramunt on the post of PACE President.
It became known today that current President of PACE Pedro Agramunt stripped of all powers. And the performance of its duties, appointed the Ukrainian people’s Deputy and part-time Vice-President of PACE George Logoiskogo. But the MP asked not to jump to conclusions and do not call him the future President of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe until he is there only to replace Agramunt.
It is known that in March of this year, Pedro Agramunt, flew to Syria with a Russian delegation to PACE and then started talking about his resignation. The President of the Assembly refused to voluntarily renounce his office, so in the Procedural Committee of PACE, it was decided to introduce a draft resolution on the possibility of impeachment of President Agramunt and now it still stripped of all powers. On his page in Facebook Georgy Logvynsky addressed to the society, writing: “Dear friends, I would like to clarify. This afternoon I really am going to replace the President of the PACE, which is a great honor for me and an important event in the international parliamentary arena for Ukraine. This procedure of substitution provided for in the Regulations for cases when the President of PACE, “not available”. But, I ask you not to confuse this with my election as President or acting President of the PACE. There is a separate procedure, which we now run.”.
According to George Logoiskogo, at the moment, his so-called acting President of the PACE or the newly elected President of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, but in the near future will launch the procedure, which he can hold this position.
It is worth noting that the official voting for the resignation of Pedro Agramunt will likely be held in October 2017. Under current rules, the PACE, the first thing will be to gather signatures in favor of the resignation of the President of the Assembly, then they will consider in the Procedural Committee and only after that will put the issue on the resignation of Agramunt to the vote. But that’s not all, because to a decision on the impeachment of the President of the PACE was taken, for it should vote not less than seventy registered members. On the ballot are required to attend at least one third of the total number of PACE members.
