63% of Latvian residents watch Russian television programmes.
Respondents said that the look of PBK, which has been rebroadcasting the programs of “First channel”, “NTV Mir Baltic” and “RTR Russia”.
45% of respondents watch Russian TV channels movies and TV shows, 33% prefer Comedy shows and concerts, 28% – news programs.
Most of them belong to the older age group. Viewers of Russian TV in Latvia among people younger than 34 years, less than half.
Only 40% of respondents said that they can distinguish reliable information from biased and fabricated. 27% did not know that the information in the media can be biased.
As reported by the Ministry of culture, those who get information from the local and English media, often unable to critically assess the content, while users of Russian-language media are observed difficulties with the distribution of information.
In addition, according to the Agency, the ability to critically select facts from the media affects the level of education and income. People with high income and good education tend to understand that one event in different media can give different angles.
