Mairis Briedis Dortmund beat Marco Huck and won the vacant title of WBC champion in the heavyweight division.
Initially, the first and hook had to compete for the title of “interim” WBC champion, however, a few days before the fight the belt holder Tony Bellew confirmed his transition into the heavyweight division and received the world Boxing Council title of honorary WBC champion.
The first confidently began and left behind a debut rounds. Lett often fell, hook answered lots of clinching and dirty tactics.

Mairis Briedis became the first Latvian world champion and is automatically entered in the target list of the Ukrainian winner of the WBO Alexander Usik, who is the eighth of April in the U.S. waiting for the second defense of his title.
