The court of appeal upheld the first instance decision.
In Latvia confiscated $26 million belonging to the former people’s Deputy from Party of regions Yury Ivanyushchenko. About this Facebook said the Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin.
“On March 7, the Latvian court of appeal upheld the trial court’s decision on the special confiscation of 26 million US dollars belonging to Ivanyushchenko. His lawyers are unable to prove the legality of these funds. The decision is final and not subject to appeal,” said ENIN.
According to him, the Ukrainian investigators were in constant contact with the competent Latvian institutions and resulted in the confiscation of the money in Latvia.
ENIN said that Ivanyushchenko has finally lost the ability to return the money, as “Ukraine has a chance to see the money as only appropriate verdict for Ivanyushchenko in Ukraine will come into force”.
