On the eve of the 8-th Kyiv marathon Wizz Air Kyiv City Marathon in 2017, which will be held in the capital October 8, runners in the city organized a peaceful rally-flash mob “SMN rubber on krowki”. Goal – inform drivers and residents of Kiev on the temporary overlap of the streets on the day of the international cross-country events.
“Today you are a driver, and October 8 – runner” – with this slogan came out the protesters on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in the morning of 28 September, where it held the symbolic start of the run. The runners ran a distance of 3.5 km in a circle from the street, along the European square, Hrushevskoho street, Mariinsky Park and back. Morning run with banners in the city centre attracted the attention of drivers and residents of the capital.
“For the eighth consecutive year we hold the Kiev marathon, which has become a prestigious running event in Ukraine. October 8, thousands of participants will run through the streets of the capital to set new records, achieve new victories, to change ourselves and show others. This is a great running holiday, and the overlap of the streets along the marathon route – it is our duty to participants and the global running community. We apologize for the inconvenience in front of the drivers and offer to plan their travel to Kiev alternative route,” says General Manager Run Ukraine Dmitry chernitskii.
He added that every resident of Kiev invited to join the event.
“If you can’t run even a short distance, you can always support others. Gradually we are approaching the world standards of carrying out cross-country events, and ask their community to support us, not to multiply the negative reaction in social networks, ” said Chernitsky.
