The businessman Sergey Kurchenko filed in the Pechersk district court of Kiev the statement of claim to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the Ukrainian TV channel 1+1 on the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation. On Wednesday, October 4, said the press service of Serhiy Kurchenko.
The lawsuit concerns statements Poroshenko during his visit to Odessa on 7 October 2016, when he said, “Mr. Kurchenko – the criminal”. The statement was circulated by the Television news service in the news at 19:30,” – said the press service.
Kurchenko, commenting on the claim, noted that the word “criminal” in the address of the individual do not apply without relevant court decision.
“Without a conviction, such a statement is slander, personal abuse and a direct violation of the Constitution. It knows even a freshman in law school. It is time know this and Poroshenko – candidate of juridical Sciences! I will defend my honor and dignity in court,” he said.
In a press-service of the businessman added that if Ukraine Kurchenko will not be able to defend their honor and dignity, he will appeal to the European court of human rights.
