Key mobile operators promised fair competition.
The Minister of economic development and trade Stepan Kubiv has held a meeting with key Telecom operators on the introduction of mobile communication the 4G standard. In addition to representatives of “Kyivstar”, “VF Ukraina” (“Vodafone”) and “Lifecell” (lifecell) was and market regulators – the national Commission of state regulation in the sphere of communication and information (NCCIR).
“Recalled that the government of Vladimir Groisman has adopted all necessary decisions to the distribution of the NCCIR corresponding frequency took place on a competitive basis, to provide fair conditions in the telecommunications market”, – he wrote on the meeting on his page in the network Facebook.
According to the Vice Prime Minister, government decisions have created a basis for effective and efficient implementation of 4G in a fair tender conditions, rational deployment, network efficiency through optimization of administrative services.
“4G – normal flight! … All very good – the government supports the introduction of new technologies, free competition and equal access to frequency resources,” – commented on the results of the meeting, the President of Kyivstar Petro Chernyshov.
According to him, the participants of the meeting discussed tenders for 4G, including the 1800 MHz frequencies needed for the quick launch of this technology, as well as legislative initiatives that need to be taken to eliminate the digital gap between Ukraine and developed countries.
“It was productive – almost all participants”, – said Chernyshov.
He confirmed that “Kyivstar” is ready to participate in both tenders for frequencies in the 2600 MHz band and 1800 MHz.
It is expected that the NCRIC in the fourth quarter of 2017 will hold tenders for licenses in the bands 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz to provide mobile services in the 4G standard at a starting price respectively about 4 billion UAH and about 2.3 billion UAH. In the finalization of documents with the Cabinet managed to find a scheme that will guarantee the continuity of the service connection already operating three main mobile operators.
Leading operators said earlier that the conditions of their participation in the competition for 4G is a guarantee for preserving their frequencies in the 1800 MHz band, which they for the competition will temporarily have to give.
