The new Chairman of the Kola science center, Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) became a deacon of the Russian Orthodox Church and a doctor of geological-mineralogical Sciences, Professor Sergey Krivovichev. According to Krivovicheva, under his leadership, the Kola science center will conduct basic and applied research in the interests of both the region and the whole Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
Sergey Krivovichev was born in a family of geologists and from childhood was fascinated by this science. Is the father of many children — he has four sons and three daughters.
In 1994 he graduated from the geological faculty of St. Petersburg state University. In 2001 defended there his doctoral thesis. 29 Dec 2015 became a Professor at the Russian Academy of Sciences. Krivovichev deciphered the crystal structure of more than 120 minerals that led to the discovery of more than 80 mineral deposits of Russia.
Sergey Krivovichev has also, since 1995, has served in the Church of St. Panteleimon in St. Petersburg. In 2006 he was ordained as a deacon of the Russian Orthodox Church.
