The sides will discuss the issue of political prisoners.
Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin will meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Vienna on Thursday, 7 December to discuss the issue of political prisoners. This was announced by the Ukrainian Minister in his blog.
“I will today try to meet with Lavrov to talk about our prisoners, our political prisoners, as it is very important emotionally, not so much politically,” Klimkin said.
He also spoke about his meeting with the US Secretary of state Rex Tillerson.
“Just came from a meeting with Secretary of state of the United States Rex Tillerson. Great meeting, great atmosphere! Many questions were discussed: what do we do with him and Kurt Volker as to the progress of the mission, what to do next, how to continue to build pressure on Russia, including in the context of the new us sanctions. A lot of different ideas – keep working. Well, of course, talked about the need to continue reforms, support for these reforms from the United States. And about the need to make further progress in establishing an effective and independent anti-corruption system in Ukraine, because without it the success of the reforms is not possible, ” said the Minister.
Recall Klimkin during the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council held a meeting with the special representative of the US State Department in Ukraine with Kurt Volker.
