Klimkin explained the decision to close polling stations in Russia

Климкин объяснил решение о закрытии избирательных участков в России“We can’t guarantee that in the day of elections will be a dangerous provocation.”

Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that the polling stations on the territory of Russia were eliminated at the suggestion of the Ministry of foreign Affairs.

According to him, the main argument for this decision is a safety issue.

“We believe that the holding of free and fair elections in the territory of the aggressor country is impossible without political and legal meaning, and for those who decide to participate in them – is simply dangerous,” wrote Klimkin.

“Russian propaganda in recent years has raised the degree of anti-Ukrainian sentiments in Russia to the level of hysteria. We can’t guarantee that in the day of elections will be a dangerous provocation. To be affected and the Ukrainian voters and our staff, and in the end the buildings themselves dipuchrezhdeny. In addition, there is no doubt that all who will take part in the vote, will be under the hood of the FSB and run the risk of soon becoming victims of repressions”, – the Minister explained his point of view.

According to Russian security guarantees for Ukraine can not, he said.

The Minister added that the closure of sites will play a significant role. Although the Ukrainian Diaspora in Russia counts more than 2.5 million people, the elections in 2014 were registered only 49418 voters, and voted less than 1200 people.
