“Chestnut run” this year will be held for the 25th time.
This weekend, 27 and 28 may, Kyiv will celebrate the city Day. This 1535 birthday from the time of the first written mention of the capital of Ukraine in 482. But the celebration will begin in the city before the weekend. The city authorities of Kiev and sponsors have prepared a varied programme for every taste.
This year, the birthday of the capital will be held under the slogan “Four days of dance, music and colors”, and involve 30 events at the city level. About 200 events are planned in areas of the city during the week.
“This year we wanted to create a real holiday atmosphere for residents and for those who love the capital. Therefore, with the aim of selecting the most interesting projects held three competition for the best cultural projects. All residents and guests of the city waiting for 4 days of dances, concerts and theatrical acts, ” – said during a briefing Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv city state administration Anna Starostenko.
Nearest landmark event will be the solemn ceremony of awarding of the art prize “Kyiv” on may 24.
And already on may 25 will start the festivities at St. Sophia square – everyone here will be waiting for days of dance, music and singing. In particular, on Thursday at St. Sophia square will host a festival and the tango Day, Friday will be a Day of latina, on Saturday, may 27, planned a theatrical action-the procession and the Day of the Waltz. Turn starts at 17:00 from the Park of Taras Shevchenko and will end in a mass performance of the anthem of the capital “Yak you not to love you, my Kyiv”. And everything will end with a gala concert on Sunday, may 28.
“Also, all residents are invited to celebrate the days of the capital in the Park “Victory”. Here on may 27th and 28th the audience will have an interesting multi-genre concert program and a large number of workshops, dance competitions, master-classes in salsa, Latin, flamenco, Oriental dance, martial hopak and the like. Spectacular event these days will be the city festival of choral art “Song over Dnipro”, which is annually held on the “Singing field”. This year’s contest invited over 30 of the best Amateur choral ensembles from all over Ukraine”, – said Anna Starostenko.
Also on may 27 and 28 at Kontraktova square will be the festival of culture of peoples of the hem. Guests will get acquainted with the history of the life of every nation at the hem, try national cuisine, participate in competitions and quizzes.
This year will be second time the international festival of arts “Anne de Kiev fest”. The event will last from 26 to 28 may from 10:00 to 22:00 at the Lviv square, and the square around the monument to Anna of Kyiv. In particular, the 26th in the evening the festival starts from the performance “Yaroslavna, Queen of France.” Saturday-Sunday there will be an Opera concert, “Four Queen”, the Opera “Anna Yaroslavna” and “Yaroslav the Wise”.
During the celebration of Kyiv Day in the capital traditionally held a number of sports events. The most famous of these is charity “Run under chestnuts”, which will gather the people of Kiev on 28 may is the anniversary of the twenty-fifth time. This year’s expected record number of participants: already registered more than 10 000 people.
Also on 27 may in Kiev will host two major sporting events: athletics international race of “Kiev Euro Marathon” and professional International competitions in Cycling – “Horizon Park Women Challenge” and “Horizon Park Race Maidan”.
Sunday, may 28, at 15:00 on Khreschatyk will begin the championship of a city of family sports, with the participation of family, which during the year competed and won in regional competitions.
In addition, there is a Sailing regatta and the Open Cup of the city in Aeronautics, Kyiv city Open tournament for the Cup of Kiev kickboxing “arch-2017”, all-Ukrainian competitions “Cup of the capital” in orienteering and the like.
