Jubilee international physics Olympiad, tel-Aviv, the Russians took five medals

Four gold medals and one silver medal won by the Russians at the 50 th International physics Olympiad for schoolchildren, held in Israeli tel Aviv. The winners were Gregory Bobkov, Alexey Shishkin and Vladimir Malinovsky from Moscow school number 1589 and Andrey Panferov from school-boarding school of a name of Kolmogorov at Moscow state University. Elisha Sudakov from the Vologda multidisciplinary Lyceum (Vologda oblast) won silver.

The head of the Russian team at the Olympics was Vice-rector for educational Affairs and pre-University preparation Moscow Institute of physics and technology (MIPT), Artem Voronov and the Deputy head – associate Professor at MIPT Mikhail Osin and leading engineer of laboratory for work with gifted children MIPT Vitaly Shevchenko. Preparing our students for the contest passed on the basis of MIPT Educational center “Sirius”.

Only 50-th International physics Olympiad was attended by 384 students from 78 countries, the press service of the Ministry of education. The competition consisted of two rounds – theoretical and experimental, and evaluated the work of members of the international Commission, consisting of representatives of the participating countries.

Last year at the 49th International physics Olympiad for schoolchildren in the Portuguese Lisbon, the Russian team also won five medals — four gold and one silver.

By decree of the President of Russia this year, all winners and prize-winners of international Olympiads, as well as coaching teams will receive cash prizes. The winners of medals in international Olympiads have a right to enter any Russian University without exams in the corresponding profile.
