Jordan Peele speaks of “Away 2”

Universal recently threw a party in honor of the release of the film “Away” on Blu-ray. In this edition, incidentally, included a more realistic alternative ending and a bunch of interesting things, but now it’s not about that.

At the event discussed the chances of the film for an Oscar, and new projects directed by debutant Jordan Saw. Well, and there was the inevitable question about whether the “Off” sequel. Curiously, the opinions of creators on this subject is somewhat divided.

Producer Sean Mckittrick was delighted with this idea:

I hope we can do it. I would really like. We were joking and Polosatiy about the prequels and sequels “Away” from the moment that started “Off”.

But Jason bloom more restrained:

We managed to make sequels for almost all of the hits that we had, and this is the first film in which I just can not imagine what could be the sequel. So if Jordan can figure out what he wanted to do as a sequel, of course, we’ll do it… but I don’t push him to do it, and I really have no idea what it could be.
I think it’s not a movie you want to push Jordan to come up with another one. If it happens organically, then so be it, but I don’t think anything good will come of it, if you make it happen… and I don’t think that’s always the case. There are a lot of Directors who I am, like, dude, you should do it.

Well, it’s very reasonable and commendable position, I think. And the last, probably, has been said about the protracted franchise “Paranormal”. Well, I think so.

So, what say the Director and script writer of “Away”?

Look, I feel that this world is much deeper. I would have given the audience a sequel, if I felt they were going to beat the original. You know, I’m in. I’m in.

That is some vague thoughts and feelings, but no concrete ideas. However, the enthusiasm for the creation of the sequel Jordan Saw clearly there, and frankly, that surprises me. Maybe the Director was joking? Just me is very difficult to imagine that this story is still possible and worth mentioning.

In addition, Saw asked to comment on rumors about the film adaptation of “Akira”:

I think I could do it, if there was a story. “Akira” is one of my favorite movies, and I think that this history justifies a big budget, which you may dream. But the real question for me is the following: if I want to use the existing material or do I want to create original content? In the end, I decided that I wanted to create something original.

And then he can understand and even support. Many talk about the crisis in horror, but then come such creators as Jordan Drinking and doing something new and pushing the genre forward. Let’s hope that Drinking will not become the bright debutants, merged after the first picture. Well, let’s wait for news about the new social Thriller, which he recently took.
