The Japanese military has expressed concern in connection with intention of Russia to place a division on the Kuril Islands.
The Minister of defense of Japan Tomomi Inada, during a meeting with the head of the defense Ministry Sergei Shoigu said that the increasing military presence of Russian troops in the region brings an imbalance in the balance of power in the far East.
However, the Russian defense Ministry about the concerns of the Japanese side said.
“Despite the difficulties, the cooperation between our countries consistently develops”, – quoted the Russian defense Ministry Sergei Shoigu’s words.
Earlier it was reported that Russia has decided to place a military contingent on the Kuril Islands. According to Shoigu, the military will be in the range from five to twenty thousand personnel.
