The football stadium has discovered a unique Roman sarcophagi.
Scientists have found in the area of football arena the Stadio Olimpico in Rome two unique marble sarcophagus of the age nearly two thousand years.
In the tombs were buried the representatives of the Roman nobility. One of the sarcophagi decorated with bas-relief.
“Preliminary analysis showed that the tombs date from around the III-IV centuries of our era, but the final data will be published after careful study”, – said the representative of the team of archaeologists under the direction of Dr. Marina Piranomonte.
The finds were transported to a special laboratory in Rome. The details, according to scientists, it is planned to publish in the fall.
