In 2015 from diseases caused by pollution of the environment, died on 9 million people. This is three times more than AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined, and 15 times more than the result of wars and other forms of violence.
Particularly serious implications to human health is air pollution from industrial or automotive gas, and indoor harmful substances arising from the combustion of wood or coal for heating or cooking. According to the study, air pollution has become in 2015 the reason for the premature death of 6.5 million people around the world. Specifically, these people died as a result of heart disease, stroke, lung cancer and pulmonary diseases.
Water pollution has caused the death of 1.8 million people, and the presence of toxic and carcinogenic substances in the workplace – up to 800 thousand people.
The greatest number of premature deaths as a result of pollution of environment (92%) are in countries with low and middle incomes. In States with booming industries, such as China, India, Pakistan or Kenya, the pollution of nature is the cause of the premature death of every fourth person.
Earlier it was reported that in Ukraine every two hours, three people die because of poor environmental conditions.
