The dream of every student.
The University Dorm Tietgenkollegiet was designed by Studio Lundgaard & Tranberg Arkitekter, is located in Aristide — the most modern and rapidly developing area of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Approximately 400 students, the building pretends to be a landmark project of international format, realizing the idea of “community of the future.”
Round in plan the building is composed of exposed volumes, which correspond to the internal structure, containing separate living accommodations.
Circular form — symbol of equality, reflecting the public nature of the building is contrasted with the personal, the private purpose of the individual spaces.
The conceptual idea of the project — meeting the team and man the ability to exist together, while maintaining individuality. This is something that is inherent in the dormitory as to the type of building originally.
The cylindrical volume oriented to the courtyard. From the street it can be accessed via open passages, which also contain stairs leading to the five sections of the building. On each floor this section is twelve dwellings organized around a common area and kitchen.
