The number of deaths due to heart problems is increasing.
The main cause of mortality in Ukraine, especially among men, is cardiovascular disease. This was reported in the Ministry of health.
The health Ministry reminded that cardiovascular diseases are such as coronary heart disease (heart attacks), stroke, high blood pressure (hypertension), peripheral artery disease, rheumatic heart disease, congenital heart disease and heart failure.
The most common cause of such diseases are the behavior and habits of a person: Smoking, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet and excess alcohol. Changing this behavior, one can significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
The Ministry of health advised to follow the recommendations of cardiologists, to help keep heart health.
Doctors primarily suggest to quit Smoking, because Smoking is one of the main causes of cardiovascular diseases. For two years after quitting tobacco significantly reduces the risk of coronary heart disease. After 15 years risk of coronary heart disease drops to the level of nonsmokers. Passive Smoking is also harmful for heart health.
Cardiologists emphasize that the health of the cardiovascular system you need to be physically active. Regular physical activity reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Physicians are also encouraged to monitor the body weight and stick to healthy balanced nutrition. It is recommended to eat less foods high in saturated fat.
