It became known how much Epic Games paid for the exclusivity Control

Control was released August 27 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The American company Epic Games paid the Italian Digital Bros. 8.3 million pounds ($10.5 million) for the exclusive rights to sell a new action-adventure Control from the Studio Remedy. Digital Bros. acts as the parent company of publisher 505 Games, released Control. GameDaily.biz claims that 45 % of this amount will receive a 505 Games, and 55 % received the Finnish Studio Remedy.

Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad (Ahmad Daniel) published financial statement in which the company recognized revenues from different platforms of digital distribution throughout the year, and the largest payment belongs to Epic Games.

“Payment from Epic was 100 % for Control and was held as part of the deal on exclusivity. No payments from Sony or Microsoft were reported. It was unclear whether other articles related to the payment, in addition to exclusivity,” commented Daniel Ahmad.

Elsewhere the document notes that this payment be treated as income from transactions on exclusivity and is not related to income from sales of the game. That is, in this case 10 million transaction should be regarded as a one-time payment for the right of limited duration of exclusivity.

Another developer, Glumberland created Ooblets, describes his exclusive agreement differently: these funds are guaranteed in advance 88 percent of the revenues that the Epic gives companies. That is, a guaranteed minimum sales, which previously received Glumberland, even if Ooblets clears the corresponding circulation.

Ben Wasser (Wasser Ben) from Glumberland said, “It takes a huge burden of uncertainty, because we now know that no matter what, the game will not fail, and we won’t have to return under the wing of the parents (but we love and thank you, family!)”.

A number of other developers of different levels hinted at generous exclusive deals store Epic Games. The creators of Fortnite clearly have the money that they are not afraid to spend to win from Valve’s market share in digital PC distribution.

It is logical that Epic uses different scenarios of relationships with developers in the fight for the exclusivity of their products in your store. But this is the first case, when a Studio or publisher has announced a specific amount. Surely this fact is not very please Epic, tries not to dwell on the terms and conditions of transactions with specific partners.
