Comedy musical film by Eldar Ryazanov “carnival night” for a long time was new year picture no.1.
In 1955, the novice Director Eldar Ryazanov was going to shoot the drama “the Meeting in Kamchatka”, but at “Mosfilm” his bid was not accepted. Film Director Ivan Pyryev offered him to make a Comedy, the script writers Boris Laskin and Vladimir Polyakov, who has three years gathering dust on a shelf, and not take no for an answer. The role Serafim Ogurtsov, the Director wanted to take a theatre actor Peter Konstantinov, but the first rejected sample: “the Role of Ogurtsov should play Igor Ilyinsky!”. Ryazanov was afraid to work with a famous actor and going to it with a script, quietly hoping that he would refuse. But it turned out that Ilinsky became interested in the proposal by the young Director, and they immediately found a common language. To the role of Ogurtsov, the actor played a bureaucrat in the Comedy “Volga-Volga” and, together with the Director they were looking for a new character for the hero. Agreed that it needs to be proactive, democratic and shaped by a fool.
Lyudmila Gurchenko appeared on the set too, thanks Purevu. She came to audition, but it was a failure, and Ryazanov her candidacy was not even considered. However, Ivan pyrev saw running through the corridors of “Mosfilm” girl in a lush skirt and with an unusually small waist, and again brought to the pavilion to Ryazanov.
