Inside the main skyscraper of South Korea. Photo

Over the past quarter century South Korea rushed headlong into the ranks of the most developed countries in the world.

123-storey skyscraper Lotte World Tower, maybe not claims the title of tallest building in the world, with an honorable fifth place, but in some ways it beats all records.

On the 85th floor is the highest pool in the world, and thanks to the fastest Elevator in the world the visitors can get to the top in just a minute.

The opening of the tallest building in South Korea not only captivated tourists from around the world, but have also diverted public attention from the recent troubles of the Lotte Group. Its Chairman Shin Dong-Bin and his three family members was involved in a corruption scandal and appeared in court on March 20. On top of that China decided to punish the Koreans for the provision of land for missile defense and has chosen its target chain of stores, Lotte, who is now close to China one after another.

After nearly seven years of construction and 4 trillion won (3.6 billion dollars) of expenditures April 2 tower the Lotte Group has finally opened its doors to visitors. It’s a skyscraper-record: on the upper floors you can walk on a glass floor and a swim in the pool at the highest altitude in the world.

It is the tallest building in South Korea, it is two times higher than its nearest Seoul “competitor”. The tower was supposed to open two weeks earlier, but the triumphant opening was postponed due to problems in the operation of the lift.

From the observation deck on the 118th floor overlooking the city from a bird’s-eye and right under your feet — the glass floor and a busy intersection far below.

A tunnel leads visitors to the observation deck. Representatives of Lotte’s claim that the tower and adjacent shopping center Lotte World Mall will bring 10 trillion won a year to attract 50 million tourists.

However, the time to launch large-scale projects are not the best — the South Korean economy is now on the decline. The growth of household income last year was a record slow pace and was only 0.6%. Consumer spending decreased by 0.5%.

Other attractions include the skyscraper — an impressive concert hall for 2000 persons, an aquarium, a cinema, and spacious food court.
