The Ministry of Finance has proposed a new scheme to combat tax fraud when importing goods into the country.
The Finance Ministry has submitted to Cabinet a bill, which spelled out measures to combat fraud in the transportation of goods across the border.
The Ministry of Finance said that most people proposed initiative will not create problems. It is noted that “poor is just “chemists” who import goods for sale without paying a single cent for it taxes.”
According to the state Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Eugene Kapinos, the bill will be sent to Parliament after it is approved by the Cabinet.
According to Kapinus, lately in Ukraine there was a vicious practice, when the major part of goods crosses the border through the so-called “jackets” without payment of duties and taxes.
He noted that there is a limit of about 500 euros tax-free allowance of goods in the accompanying baggage by car, and about 1000 euros on the aircraft.
“We are seeing a situation where the car sits 5 people, and they can carry significant daily volume – about 2,500 euros. If you count for the year, a very large sum,” said Kapinus.
He said that the Finance Ministry has proposed some restrictions, according to which the maximum amount of tax-free importation will be reduced to 300 euros and takes effect obligation to stay on the territory of another country for at least 24 hours.
In addition, to deliver the goods to Ukraine will be possible only once in 5 days. If you do not comply with the restrictions in 24 hours, then is in effect another rule: every day will be free without paying taxes to import of the goods is not more than 50 euros.
