The investigating judge of Holosiyivsky district court of Kyiv seized the pharmaceutical plant Farmeks Group (formerly Max-well) in the city of Boryspil. The decision was rendered on October 31, reports a press-service international law firm Ilyashev and Partners.
“The arrest was effected at the request of BTA Bank, civil plaintiff in criminal proceedings on the theft from the Bank more than $ 6 billion and launder stolen on preliminary arrangement with foreign citizens. The machinations of the pharmaceutical plants worth about 3 billion hryvnia was part of the illegal transactions ex-owner of BTA Mukhtar Ablyazov, who was sentenced for fraud to 20 years in prison in Kazakhstan and 22 months of imprisonment in England”, – stated in the message of the company Ilyashev & Partners, representing the interests of BTA.
The ultimate beneficiary of the plant is arrested Alexander Shishkin, the former Deputy of the state Duma of Russia, now a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
Owner of BTA Bank is a Kazakhstan businessman Kenes Rakishev.
“The court referred to article 5 of the Council of Europe Convention on laundering, search, seizure and confiscation of the proceeds from crime and on the financing of terrorism, obliging the state to take steps for seizure of the property, which was converted funds obtained by criminal means”, – commented in a law firm.
