Supporters of the autocephaly in Krivoi Rog stormed the residence of the Metropolitan of Krivoy Rog and Nikopol Ephraim, the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). This was reported on its page on Facebook.
The attackers tried to break down the doors of the building and shouted insults at the ruling Bishop of the diocese of Kryvyi Rih for the fact that he does not support autocephaly, said in the post. The Orthodox Church also added that the incident was observed by the National police but did not intervene.
“As admitted by one of the protesters, who introduced himself as a member of the “Right sector”, it is not a “religious man” but supported the idea of creating a so-called “one local Autocephalous Church.” Another participant admitted that “in the know”, but “for a free Ukraine”. A third demanded that the Archbishop refused their position,” — said in the Church.
Now in Ukraine there is a preparation for the Unification Council in Kiev convened by the Patriarchate of Constantinople with the support of the Ukrainian authorities. Its goal is the creation of a unified Church in Ukraine by enterprises of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Moscow Patriarchate, the UOC-Kyiv Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC) which are not canonical.
