Vodka in Ukraine can rise to 80 UAH for a half-liter bottle – expert
Since the beginning of this year in Ukraine increased the alcohol, and since March, increased the excise tax by 20%. This created the preconditions for the rise in price of alcohol. This was stated by the representative of the Association of legal manufacturers of alcohol Koval Alexey.
According to him, the price border price increase will depend on the kind of alcoholic drink, as well as the decision of the authorities to raise the MRP (minimum retail price).
“We have since the beginning of year has risen in price alcohol, with the month of March increased by 20% the rate of the excise tax. Brandy excise rates this year has risen twice — in January and in March. Objectively, the situation on the market when minimum alcohol prices should be revised, and it is obvious that this will lead to increase in prices of all alcoholic beverages in the industry. For predelah rising prices — it all depends on the kind of alcoholic drink. Now there is a discussion, there is debate among manufacturers. Given the increase of excise tax and the alcohol in the vodka will increase in the range of 75 to 80 UAH, this is 0.5 of vodka of 40 degrees, it would be fair. Today the price per bottle is 69 UAH,” — he said.
The expert added that some alcoholic drinks may not change its prices because excise tax on them has not been revised.
We will remind, at the initiative of the legal manufacturers of alcoholic beverages while the expected increase in the minimum retail price (MRTS) on alcohol in 11%.
According to General Director of the company Eastern Beverage Trading Olga Ivushkina, increase MRTS on vodka products is a consequence of the tax burden.
“Alcohol prices cannot remain unchanged when the rise in tax revenues. If theoretically to assume, that after raising excise taxes, the cost of alcohol does not change, it turns out that these excise taxes are simply unpaid. That’s how dealers gray, that is, the illegal alcohol market. All other legal producers no other choice but to sell their drinks at prices at around 80 UAH for 0.5 l. The same applies according to MRC price of alcohol, which over the past year increased 2 times. Objectively, it can’t be the cost of a bottle of vodka remain unchanged in the time, as the cost of alcohol has increased roughly by 20%,” she explained.
