In Ukraine, fell sharply production of alcohol

В Украине резко упало производство алкоголяVodka production fell by 19.3%.

The production of vodka with an alcohol content of less than 45.4% in Ukraine in January of this year decreased compared to the same month of the previous year by 18% to 1.5 million deciliters, while the production of brandy — by 1.1% to 156 thousand decaliters — counted in the state statistics.

Compared to December, the production of vodka decreased by 19.3%, cognac – by 65.1%. It is also reported that the volume of production of liqueurs and other alcoholic beverages in January 2017 increased by 62% compared to January 2016 and amounted to 350 thousand decalitres. This is 32.4% less compared to December. The data are presented excluding the occupied territory of the Crimea and the zone of the antiterrorist operation.

Recall, December 3, entered into force the decree of the Cabinet №828 (from November 9, 2016), which raised the minimum wholesale release and retail prices on separate types of alcoholic beverages. Most of the regulation hitting the pockets of fans of premium spirits – rum, gin, whiskey and others. While fans of vodka, too, had to fork out the minimum price of vodka set at the level of 70 USD for the classic “half-liter”. The decision was made due to the fact that introduced in September 2015 the minimum prices today are not consistent with the real costs of economic entities in the production and sale of alcoholic beverages. In particular, starting in 2016, increased excise duty and the price of alcohol.
