In Ukraine disappear small rivers: environmentalists are sounding the alarm

The river is almost not clean.

Over the past 25 years from the map of Ukraine disappeared more than 1 thousand small rivers.

“Relationship to water resources, the country is extremely unsatisfactory. Chaotic inconsistent with existing legislation intensively built up banks of reservoirs. The last 20 years, in fact, not conducted reclamation work on clearing silted headwaters of rivers, as the result of a shallow river, dry. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that in recent years there has been a strong water shortage river are filled only on 70% of normal. A clear example is the Irpin river flowing near Kiev. The decision on building its floodplain lands will finally kill the river. Development of the floodplain of the causes, the Irpin river will disappear,” – said the head of the Association of fishermen of Ukraine Alexander Chistyakov.

Chistyakov added that, forcing the Ukrainian shores of the rivers in concrete, thereby depriving the river of the ability to clean their water. Also the construction of various protections violate the right of citizens to unimpeded approach to the pond.

“Today the common man is virtually impossible to approach the water, starting from Kiev and the town of Ukrainka. Everywhere there are private fences,” summed up the head of the Association of fishermen of Ukraine.
