In Ukraine cheaper imported cars

The Ministry of economic development released the new import rates.

The Ministry of economic development and trade of Ukraine published the new rates of customs duties on import of cars from abroad from 1 January 2018, reports 24 channel. Rates are applied according to the free trade agreement between Ukraine and the EU, which envisages a transitional period for the import of passenger cars, which will last seven years.

So, the rate for new petrol cars from EU countries:

– with working volume no more than 1000 cm3 and 6.3% of the customs value
– with a capacity over 1000 cm3 but not exceeding 1500 cm3 – 7,3%
– with a capacity over 1500 cm3 but not exceeding 2 200 cm3 – 5%
– with working volume more than 2 200 cm3 but not exceeding 3000 cm3 – 5%
– with a capacity of over 3000 cm3 – 5%.

Rates for new diesel vehicles will be:

– with a cylinder capacity not exceeding 1500 cm3 – 7,3%
– with a capacity over 1500 cm3 but not exceeding 2500 cm3 – 7,3%
– with a cylinder capacity over 2500 cm3 and 6.3%

At the same time, the rate for electric cars will be 0% of the customs value (for vehicles equipped with only the electric motors (one or more).

New vehicles from other countries there is a higher fee (typically 10%) from customs value. In addition to duties for customs clearance of the car must pay the excise tax (depends on engine size) and VAT (20%).
