In Ukraine abolished the inheritance tax for some family members

Previously, the Tax code provided an exemption from taxation of the family members of the deceased only the first line of kinship.

President Petro Poroshenko has signed the Law of Ukraine No. 1910-VIII “On amendments to the Tax code of Ukraine regarding the taxation of inheritance,” which simplifies the probate to next of kin of the testator.

Law are exempt from tax on income of natural persons value of the estate that the testator receive the members of his family of the second degree: brothers and sisters, grandparents and grandchildren.

Prior to that, the Tax code provided for an exemption from taxation of the family members of the deceased only the first line of kinship. The heirs of the first and second stages are also exempt from the need assessment, inherited objects of the inheritance for tax purposes. While all the other heirs, the tax remains at 5%.

The law shall enter into force on the day following the day of its publication, and applies to income in the form of the inheritance/gift received from 1 January 2017.

We will remind, the law passed by the Verkhovna Rada in the second reading and 278 votes on February 23 of this year.
