Unvaccinated against measles children not allowed to visit kindergartens and schools due to the spread of infection. It concerns three regions of Ukraine – Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa and Ternopil.

According to the Ministry of health, from the beginning of 2017 in Ukraine with measles are sick more than 1627 people, most of them children. Most suffer from measles in Ivano-Frankivsk (747 cases), Odessa (589 cases, 2 of them lethal) and Ternopil (70 cases). The Ministry of health called the primary cause of outbreaks of measles, low vaccination coverage.
The health Ministry noted that the risk of mass infection is greatly increased with the beginning of the school year. Therefore, the Agency adopted a decision on non-admission of unvaccinated children to attend children’s institutions.

In the three areas with the highest number of cases, children who have not received vaccination against measles will not be allowed to attend schools and kindergartens, until they receive all necessary doses of vaccine, calendar,
– according to the Ministry.
It also noted that to protect against measles need two doses of MMR vaccine. Quality and safe vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella (“GSK”, Belgium) is available in all areas in sufficient quantities.
