Press Secretary of the President of the United States Sean Spicer urged Moscow to “immediately release all peaceful protesters” who were detained during the rallies organized in different cities of Russia-opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
“The Russian people deserve a government that supports an open marketplace of ideas, transparent and accountable governance structures, equality before the law and able to exercise their rights without fear of retaliation,” – said the press Secretary of the White house.
Spicer called the detention of human rights defenders and journalists in the course of the stock insult of “basic democratic values” and said that the White house continues to monitor the situation.
