In the U.S. Senate introduced a bill on new sanctions against Russia
In connection with the cyber attacks and the situation in Ukraine, us senators have prepared and submitted to the Senate a bill to impose additional sanctions against Russia.
This was reported by one of the initiators of this bill, Democrat Senator Ben Cardin. Also among the participants: Republican John McCain and Democrat Robert Menendez.
The sanctions will affect the energy sector and the sphere of sovereign debt, explained Cardin.
“We want to announce today that introduced the bill, which provides for additional sanctions against Russia”, – said Senator Cardin.
In his explanatory speech, the Senator referred to the conclusions of American intelligence. According to him, the investigation of the investigation “clearly indicates that the attack was led by President Putin, and that it was aimed at undermining confidence in our electoral system”.
“We can’t do business as always, he added. We must take steps to make it clear that such actions will have consequences, and our bill does that.”
Earlier, The Washington Post reported on the preparation of a group of senators for new sanctions. According to the newspaper, the new restrictions apply to investments in Russian energy projects, provide for sanctions for involvement of any structures in the operations of the defense Ministry and the Russian intelligence.
