In the United States has criticized the construction of “SP-2”

In Washington believe that the pipeline will exacerbate Europe’s dependence on Russian energy.

The United States criticized the construction of the second line of the “Turkish stream” for transit of gas to Europe and of the pipeline “Nord stream-2”, which will connect Russia and Germany directly. The corresponding statement on Friday, June 29, released by the state Department.

“Last week, U.S. officials emphasized that the United States actively oppose the strip on the initiative of the Russian gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” and the second line of the “Turkish stream” that will exacerbate Europe’s dependence on Russian energy”, – said in a statement.

At the same time, Washington welcomed the progress made in the construction of the “southern gas corridor” on the territory of Azerbaijan and Turkey. It is expected that by 2020, the project will allow to deliver Caspian gas from Azerbaijan to Europe. In addition, the us administration welcomes the decision of Poland to conclude with US the contract for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the period from 2022 to 2042 years.

The United States supports initiatives that contribute to “energy diversification and energy security of their allies around the world”, notes the state Department. It is, in particular, on the construction of the LNG terminal on Krk island in Croatia and the black sea to supply gas to Europe from Romania.

Earlier, the Ministry of economy and energy of Germany was unable to confirm that Berlin has received advance assurances of non-proliferation of U.S. sanctions against Russia on the gas pipeline project “Nord stream-2”. The representative of the Ministry Beate Baron (Beate Baron) in response to a request DW explained that the situation remains the same and nothing new in this matter did not happen.

The construction of the offshore section of Turkish stream started on 7 may 2017. They engaged in the South Stream Transport company. The first string of the gas pipeline is intended to supply the Turkish market, the second for countries in southern and South-Eastern Europe. The capacity of each of them – 15.75 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

“Nord stream-2” project, cost 9.5 billion euros, half financed by the Russian Gazprom and half by five European energy companies, including the daughter of German concern BASF – Wintershall.

Against the project actively support the Baltic States, Poland, Ukraine, and USA.
