The documentary was known for filming the performances of famous musicians
Before his death, which was caused by renal failure, 90-year-old filmmaker spent three months fighting the disease. Murray Lerner was a well-known filming musical paintings, particularly for Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors and The Who. He also made the film “From Mao to Mozart: Isaac Stern in China” on the journey to China violinist Isaac Sterna. This painting was recognized as the best documentary in 1981 and received the “Oscar”. In addition, the Director was awarded at the Venice film festival in 1967.
Producer Martin Lewis, who was friends with Lerner, called it “one of the most important creators of music documentaries of our time.”
