About 20 prisoners in the penal colony No. 3 in Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region opened a vein in protest.
According to the newspaper “Ulyanovsk person” later that evening, 20 people opened a vein, one stabbed in the neck with a nail. “The cause of the accident was the conflict in the colony, which lasted a long time”, — said the source publication.
In a statement on the website of the regional Department of the Federal penitentiary service said that the conflict took place on 2 March in prison, which is located in another part of town. According to officers, three prisoners ended a sentence in a punishment cell, but they “refused to comply with the lawful demands of employees of the administration of the prison and follow them to their previous holding”. Then the two escorted to the chamber and to the third, making the “intent to commit an act of self-harm”, used force.
“The convict Kh. was to encourage other prisoners to resistance and disobedience, which was the occasion of several prisoners committing acts of self-harm. They were given timely medical aid”, — noted in the office of the Federal penitentiary service.
On a scene there arrived representatives of administration, police, Investigative Committee and Prosecutor’s office.
