In England in the year from 200 to 300 thousand units of housing.
According to the British Parliament, in the year England is required from 232 000 to 300 000 new housing units. This figure is two to three times higher than the current stock of facilities in the market.
And the required rate of construction sector was not reached since the late 1970-ies.
In 2013, the government introduced as a temporary measure to combat the problem of so-called “right to permitted development” (PDR).
This meant that developers do not need to submit an application for full permission for the construction if they are going to convert industrial sites into residential. In October 2015, a decree was legalized on a permanent basis.
In early 2016 the PDR has extended to changing the designated use of office facilities. In addition, it is now possible to build up the housing and land that is suitable for industrial estate.
The new rules come into force on 1 October 2017 for a period of three years.
