In the state Duma proposed to confiscate property from relatives and friends narcocriminals

Confiscation of property and income in Russia could affect not only the relatives and friends of those who were convicted of corruption offences: state Duma deputies want to suggest to apply a similar measure to the family and friends of drug traffickers. About it reports “Kommersant”.

“We have a bill, we are talking about how to withdraw earnings not only from a drug dealer, a criminal, but also his relatives who profited at the expense of the drug. By analogy with the recent explanation of the constitutional court according to which it is possible to confiscate the property of relatives of corrupt officials”, — leads edition of the words of the Chairman of the Duma Committee on security and combating corruption Vasily Piskareva (“United Russia”).

He explained that if the relatives of the drug dealer appear “strange assets”, they can be withdrawn in the state income, if it is proved that the assets acquired by legitimate means.

The bill is under development, but deputies intend to intensify work on it, added the Piskarev.

“As practice shows, those who engaged in such criminal activity, usually do not draws. He draws the property to relatives, friends, those under his control,” — said the member of the Duma Committee for security and combating corruption Anatoly Election (United Russia). According to the Deputy, the law will be “a powerful prevention for those who illegally enriched like that.”

Last week, the Russian constitutional court issued a clarification, from which it follows that the basic law is not contrary to the practice of confiscating the property acquired on incomes, whose legitimacy has not been confirmed. If the developers of the new legislation aimed at strengthening the fight against drug trafficking, will take this logic into service, the confiscation of property will face, not only relatives, but also friends and acquaintances, drug dealers, the newspaper notes.

On Thursday in the state Duma held an extended meeting of the Committee on security and combating corruption, which deputies discussed the state anti-drug policy until 2030. Earlier, President Putin instructed the government to study the introduction of criminal liability for propaganda or encouragement of drug use on the Internet. At the suggestion of Senator Andrey Klishas, such crimes can start to be punished with imprisonment from 5 to 15 years. Until January 10, 2020, Putin will have to report on the implementation of the order.
