The Russian government continues to maintain an active conflict.
The representative of the U.S. Department of State Heather Nauert said that Russia and its surrogates is the source of violence in the Donbas.
The state Department also attributed the recent escalation and shelling in the area ATO with the unilateral exit of Russia from the Joint center for coordination and control.
“Before the cease-fire was achieved on the level of Russian-Ukrainian military mechanism (the Joint center for coordination and control – ed.) that allowed civil is it safe to leave the areas of fire. However, the Russian government unilaterally took the decision to withdraw from this mechanism of deconfliction,” said Neuert.
She stressed that the Russian government continues to maintain an active conflict and humanitarian crisis, provides the command and directs the armed forces and has direct control over their appointees to local authorities.
“The United States calls on Russia to cease attacks in Eastern Ukraine, withdraw its forces and heavy weapons from the sovereign territory of Ukraine and to agree on strong UN peacekeeping mission”, -said the press Secretary of the state Department.
